A collaborative, interactive performance learning experience called…
What is Burly-U?
In the months between acceptance into Burly U and the graduation performances, students will mentored by veteran Honeybee Burlesque members to create their own burlesque persona and perform for our audience!
Burly-U draws inspiration from various burleqsue and variety workshop experiences as well as Drag-U, a show made famous by Ru Paul in which normal every day people are mentored by drag queens and transformed into Queens themselves. The premise of the show has been adapted by many night clubs across the country, most notably The Lodge and Drag royalty of Western,MD.
(True story, The Lodge – Drag-U is how Lady Bladie got her start in the performance arts world!)
